Governor Signs Bill Extending Outdoor Dining Through November 2024

Governor Murphy recently signed legislation extending the authorization for restaurants and bars to offer outdoor dining to patrons.  During COVID-19 the Legislature adopted P.L.2021, c.15, which allowed restaurants and bars to expand outdoor dining in response to the public health emergency. That law was set to expire on November 30, 2022, but the recently passed legislation extends the date to November 30, 2024.  Outdoor fixtures such as tents, canopies, umbrellas, tables, and chairs, are considered permitted uses for as long as the law is in effect, provided they meet fire safety and construction code standards.  For more information, read the act below or contact us to discuss how this may affect your business.

P.L.2022, c.85 (Approved August 3, 2022; effective immediately.)
