Our office has a well established expertise in the areas of Land Use and Zoning. Department Chairperson, Stuart D. Liebman, serves as the attorney for the Glen Rock Board of Adjustment. Attorneys from our office have appeared before literally hundreds of Boards and governing bodies on behalf of clients. Matters handled range from large subdivisions and complicated commercial development applications, to signs of every type and homeowner matters. In this increasingly sophisticated area of practice, we work closely with site engineers, professional planners, traffic experts, and architects, and frequently put together a team of professionals to work to meet the client’s application needs. In addition to appearances before Planning Boards and Boards of Adjustment, we represent our Land Use clients before the Department of Transportation, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Energy, the County Planning Boards and Soil Conservation Districts, and other approving agencies.

Operating a business is no longer simple. Was it ever? For our business clients, we handle a wide range of contractual matters, employment issues, leasing of both business premises and equipment, refinance, and other relationships with financial institutions, and much more. Attorneys in this department also work on the creation and maintenance of business entities, including corporations (both C type and Sub-Chapter S), Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), Partnerships, Limited Partnerships, Joint Ventures and Sole Proprietorships. We do extensive work in the area of commercial leasing.
Tax, Trusts & Estates

The Tax,Trusts and Estates department services the needs of private clients in the areas of estate planning, trust estate administration, gift and income tax advice, elder law and Medicaid planning, conservatorships, guardianships, fiduciary litigation and dispute resolution. We design estate plans to protect our clients' assets, and assist in the transfer of wealth to the younger generations, with minimum tax implication. We use both complex and simple planning techniques that address the individual needs of our clients. Our team prepares wills, revocable "living" trust agreements, irrevocable trust agreements, family limited partnerships, charitable trust and foundations and other trusts that leverage gift tax transfers. We frequently work with accountants, investment advisors, trust officers, insurance professionals and other advisors, to help clients formulate asset protect planning lifetime gift giving programs and wealth succession planning. Our trust and estate attorneys and paralegals also assist fiduciaries in administering estates and trusts and advise executors and trustees on post mortem tax planning options. Our professionals prepare estate, inheritance and gift tax returns, value estate assets, handle tax audits and prepare accountings to settle an estate or trust. Finally, if a dispute arises with respect to any area of this practice, we are well qualified in dispute resolution and prepared to go to Court when necessary.
Litigation

The Litigation Department handles a wide range of litigation matters, including sophisticated commercial matters, land use/title disputes, construction litigation, environmental litigation, landlord/tenant matters, personal injury, employment matters and various matters which are litigated from the New Jersey Supreme Court to local Municipal Court matters as well as Federal Court representation. Jim Delia, who is a former Chief of the Fraud Squad with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s office, also handles criminal representations. |  |
